Jeep JK XHD Bumper System
The 2007 SEMA Show in Las Vegas had a whole host of new items especially for the
Jeep 2007 to 2008 JK
Wrangler. One of the most exciting items was the new
Extreme Heavy
Duty (XHD) Bumper System offered by
Rugged Ridge. This bumper system is a
modular design that is easily mounted to the existing frame bolt locations.
There are 2 short base designs available. The first one incorporates an
integrated winch mount that will allow the use of any aftermarket winch. The
second short base design has bolt locations for 2 optional off-road lights.
These short base designs attach easily to the frame that provides for the
toughest bumper attachment found. Both designs also include 2 heavy duty D Rings
and cutouts with light guards, for the factory fog lamps.
Once the consumer has selected the appropriate Short Base, for their particular
application, optional Standard Ends can be added to make this bumper a full size
bumper.
There are 3 different tubular designs that can be attached to this bumper
depending on the use the operator is looking for. The first one is a Stinger
style that allows the jeep to easily slide off rocks. The second design is a
Hoop Overrider design that adds additional protection for the optional winch or
off-road lights. The third design is a RRC Mount Tube Design. This design adds
additional protection for the entire bumper and any added options. This design
appears to be best choice for the Jeep enthusiast who uses their Jeep from rock
crawling to riding up and down the trails. The D Rings cannot be used with the
Stinger and the RRC Mount Tube Designs.
All of these components are constructed of heavy-duty textured black powder
coated steel with a tough e-coat under coating to provide years of heavy-duty
use and abuse. The D Rings and optional Hoop Overrider are available in
304-grade stainless steel.
Rugged Ridge is also offering a XHD Rear Bumper built to the same heavy-duty
standards as the front design. There is an optional swing out tire carrier
available with this bumper for use with tires up to 35 inches in diameter.
